Today, it’s of a surfer taking advantage of the incredible glowing water for a once in a lifetime ride in San Diego.
Heavy rains that hit San Diego earlier this month washed nutrients into the ocean, generating a coastal red tide that’s filled with Lingulodinium polyedra, a type of single-cell organism that can produce brilliant flickers of light, particularly in breaking surf or the wake of a boat.
