Last week we reported that there had been a series of killer whale attacks on sailboats along the coast of Spain and Portugal. Witnesses claimed that the attacks felt “totally orchestrated” by the whales.
In one instance, a 46-foot delivery boat was surrounded by nine orcas off Cape Trafalgar in Spain.
The whales, that can weight up to six tons, rammed the boat continuously for one hour, causing it to spin 180 degrees and the engine to shut down, according to crew member Victoria Morris
We now have more footage showing a pod of killer whales menacing a sailboat off the coast of northern Spain. As you watch the video keep in mind that killer whales are the apex hunters in the ocean and terrify even great white sharks whose livers they apparently love to rip out and feast upon. There are no known instances of killer whales attacking humans in the wild. Scientists remain puzzled by these recent “attacks” by the wales on boats.
