With new fully electric and hybrid boats, Serenity Yachts is moving yachting towards a guilt-free and solar-powered future.
GRAND CAYMAN, CAYMAN ISLANDS – Yachts are generally wasteful, polluting luxuries reserved for the very wealthy. A boatbuilder called Serenity Yachts hopes to fix two of those three problems – wasteful and polluting – unfortunately, even their yachts are still too expensive for us mere mortals.
Let’s get the pricing out of the way first – the Serenity 64 costs $3.3 million, and the Serenity 74 costs $5.5 million. Not cheap but at the more reasonable end as far as high-end yachts go.
Billed as the “Tesla of yachts,” Serenity Yachts are early adaptors of state-of-the-art technology. Each vessel is equipped with ultra-smart navigation, entertainment and smart home tech, which is easily upgradeable when new technology becomes available.
Serenity Yachts offers environmentally sensitive products with plenty of other advantages. For example, with almost 1,200 square-feet of solar panels, the Serenity 74 will cruise at 7 to 9 knots endlessly. There’s also the cost savings of not having to pay for fuel.
Here’s a look at what you get for your money.
