Paris is turning the Seine river into a drive-in movie theater for little boats.

PARIS – This exciting innovation ticks all the boxes for us. Boats, movies and Paris. What’s not to like?

To celebrate the opening of this year’s Paris Plages event, the Paris City Hall has planned a cinema session on the water right in the heart of the city on the Seine. In total, 38 boats will be ready to welcome free movie fans upon sign up.

In addition to these 38 small boats, 150 deckchairs will be added to the quays to attend this unusual free open-air cinema session.

What is Paris Plages?

Created in 2002, the Paris Plages (Paris Beach) annual event creates public spaces along the Seine River for Parisians, most of whom live in tiny little apartments, to get out and enjoy their city reimagined as a beach. Major roads are shut down, sand is trucked in and a beach-like environment is created in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
