New video of APL England limping into Port of Brisbane after losing 43 containers

PortandTerminal.com, May 27, 2020

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – New video was released that shows the container ship APL England with containers hanging off its sides as it makes its way to the Port of Brisbane.

The vessel experienced a loss of propulsion in heavy seas shortly after 6 am on Sunday. The power loss occurred in heavy seas and lead to the loss of at least 40 containers overboard as the vessel rolled violently. An additional 74 containers were damaged during the incident.

This new, higher-quality video doesn’t add much new information to what is already known. It does give the viewer an appreciation for the incredible stresses placed on the vessel as it was rocked about in the seas without power.

Meanwhile, debris continues to wash ashore.
