New Record: Expanded Panama Canal Breaks 15,000 TEU Vessel Threshold

The Panama Canal completed an important test this week to see whether a 15,000 TEU container ship could safely get through the Expanded Panama Canal (EPC). They succeeded, safely proving that the EPC can transit a vessel the size of Evergreen’s Triton. See video in the Panama Canal’s Twitter page below.

The Triton holds the honour of being the largest ship by dimension and container cargo capacity to pass through the EPC since it opened in 2016.
