Maritime Image of the Day: “Ultimate Sea View”

PortandTerminal.com, October 31, 2019

Editor’s note: “Image of the Day” is a new feature that we have recently launched. We work in an amazing industry. Let’s celebrate its beauty together by sharing the incredible maritime imagery taken by our colleagues of what we do. Have a photo/video to share? Please send it to info@portandterminal.com along with the name of the photographer who took it (if available) so that we can give them the credit that they are due.

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA – The Shipwrecked Mariners’ Society’s search for the ‘ultimate sea view’ saw former Royal Navy petty officer Bernie Pettersen crowned overall winner with a photo depicting a storm crashing into Porthleven in Cornwall, England in 2014.

At the time, Sophie Batterbury, head of pictures at The Independent, said: ‘The overall winning picture, for all of us, summed up very much our country’s relationship with the sea and how sometimes it can be very strong and violent towards us, and yet we just sit and watch and wonder at its mighty power.’
