Maritime Image of the Day: “Sunset on Mohawk Island” Timelapse

PortandTerminal.com, March 27, 2020

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA – Today’s “Maritime Image of the Day” is the perfect antidote to these stressful times. Why not hit play, turn up the volume and relax for 30 seconds?

The timelapse video is of the sunset at Mohawk Island, a small island of fewer than 10 acres located in Lake Erie. The island contains the ruins of the Gull Island Lighthouse, which was built in 1848 to guide ships into the Welland Canal. It was automated in 1933 and decommissioned in 1969.

The timelapse was taken by Dr. Louis Albanese, a talented Canadian photographer who lives in Ontario. Dr. Albanese’s portfolio includes both photography and video work, primarily from the Niagra Region where he lives.
