Maritime exec John Driscoll named CEO of Alabama State Port Authority

Maritime executive John C. Driscoll was named CEO of Alabama State Port Authority

MOBILE, AL – The Alabama State Port Authority has announced that John C. Driscoll has been appointed to be its next CEO.

Mr Driscoll will be just the second person to hold the title of CEO at the Port Authority as he replaces current CEO James “Jimmy” Lyons who announced his intention to step down from the role in 2020 once a successor had been found. Lyons founded the Alabama State Port Authority in 2000 and led it for 20 years. Mr Driscoll will take over on June 1, 2020.

Driscoll is a seasoned maritime executive who is currently Maritime Director at the Port of Oakland, a position he has held for over 6 years. Prior to that, he held senior executive positions at shipping lines CMA CGM and Maersk, where he led the expansion and development of the company’s interests in the Caribbean, Central America, and Northern South America.

John attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a B.S. in Business Management with an emphasis on Transportation and Marketing.
