COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Maersk announced yesterday the inaugural flight of its aircraft “Maersk Bridge”.

According to Robert Uggla, Chief Executive of A.P. Moller Holding, the project is an “air bridge and supply chain operation to source and transport personal protective equipment, including millions of masks, for Danish health care workers”.

The plane used is an Antonov International Cargo Transporter, AN-124. Depending upon which of the two models is used, the aircraft, which was originally designed as a military transporter, has a maximum cargo capacity of 150,000 kg (331,000 lbs).
