KUWAIT CITY – Even by Kuwaiti standards, when it’s 136°F (58°C) outside it’s hot. Mind you, not record-setting hot. Kuwait recorded a record-setting 145° F (63°C) temperature in 2019.
Pity the people who are forced to work outside in those hellish temperatures. Nearly 70% of Kuwait’s population is made up of migrant workers, many of whom power the near-constant construction of new office complexes and malls across the state. Though labor legislation now bans work outdoors between 12 pm and 4 pm, workers are routinely seen toiling through the hottest hours of the day regardless.
One person posted a video to demonstrate just how hot his Caterpillar loader gets in the Kuwaiti heat-wave.
