MOSCOW – A 400-ton heavy-duty dump truck positioned itself too close to the edge of a quarry as it was dumping a load last week on November 18th.

As it was releasing its load the truck started to slip over the edge at which point there was nothing the driver could do but hang on as it flipped into the quarry. Fortunately, the driver, who was banged up in the incident, survived without any major injuries.
The incident took place in Kachkanar, Russia which, as the Google Satellite image below shows, is home to a large number of open pit mines. The region represents one of the largest iron ore reserves in Russia and in the world, having estimated reserves of 3.28 billion tonnes of ore grading 16.6% iron metal.
