Transit Police are investigating after video surfaces on social media of aggressive interaction between bus passengers
VANCOUVER, BC – Not much is yet known about an altercation caught on video where an unmasked female bus passenger spat in the face of a masked male who called her “disgusting.” What is known for sure is that things went badly for her after she spat on him.
Metro Vancouver Transit Police are currently in the early stages of investigating the incident, confirmed Sgt. Clint Hampton.
The male passenger, who appears to have been spit on, is seen wiping his face. He responds to the act of assault by twice pushing the woman – who is not wearing a mask as currently mandated by TransLink – off of the bus.
Judging by the reactions of Twitter users, there’s not a lot of sympathy for the woman who was launched from the bus. Here’s a pretty representative sample of reactions:
“Oh no, she was able to brace herself and didn’t hit her face on the pavement! The guy’s crazy …. he should have pushed harder! Do it again!“
“The response was perfectly appropriate. You want that creature as far away from others as possible. What a disgusting excuse for a human being she is. Hopefully she learned a lesson.“
“Spitting on somebody at any time is considered assault. During a pandemic a case could be made for attempted murder. This woman should be named, shamed, and charged.”
“She assaulted him. If she is infected, he could die. She deserved what she got.”
“I don’t promote or approve of violence, especially violence against women, but I would have pushed her too.”
