MIAMI, FL – CMA CGM’s Magellan arrived at PortMiami today having previously called upon the Port of Savannah. It is the largest ever container ship to call on a Florida port.
The 150,000 gross ton vessel measures almost 1,200 feet long and 167 feet across. Built-in 2010, the Magellan has a capacity of 13,344 teu.
Officials from the county, including Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and others, welcomed the CMA CGM Magellan into the port. Gimenez and Tourism and Ports Committee chairwoman Rebeca Sosa spoke on the county’s commitment to business and the need for continued enhancement at PortMiami to allow cargo ships of this size to dock.
