Israeli Defence Forces Detain Turkish Stowaway After Fire Aboard MSC Canberra

Israeli Defense Forces assumed control of the Panamanian flagged MSC Canberra off the coast of Haifa following reports of a fire early Sunday morning.

A 45 year old Turkish national has been arrested in relation to the incident and has since been handed over to authorities.

“During the searches, the soldiers caught an unlisted passenger who was handed over to the Israel Police,” the IDF said, according to The Times of Israel. “The incident is over.”

There were no reports of any injuries. The Canberra arrived at its destination in Haifa shortly following the incident.
