TEHRAN, IRAN – Iran’s deputy health minister has tested positive for coronavirus, the semi-official news agency ILNA reported on Tuesday.
The spokesman for Iran’s health ministry confirmed in an interview with state television that Deputy Minister Iraj Harirchi has been infected and is now under quarantine.
He is shown in the video below standing on the left of the camera, clearly unwell and unprotected, giving a public statement that the virus is under complete control in Iran.
An investigation is underway to determine which senior Iranian officials he may have infected with the virus.
As of February 25, 2020 Iran has reported 61 cases of the virus and 15 deaths. Many are doubting the truth of those numbers.
