MOSCOW – Russian media, both mainstream and local, have reported that a bloody knife attack took place either January 30 or 31st on board an unidentified tanker. No other details available about the vessel’s identity were given.
Somehow, the fight was filmed, and Russian media posted the video. The ship was in the Kerch Strait near Kavkaz Port. Chief officer, shown in the video with a naked torso, punched one of the crew in the face and then struck him four times with a knife, in the stomach and chest. He was stopped by another crew, was later arrested, and is now in custody, under investigation. He may be sentenced up to 10 years in prison.
The wounded crew member was hospitalized and is in bad condition, but understood, not with life-threatening injuries. The Chief Officer is of Russian nationality. It is said, that there was an ongoing conflict between 33-year old Chief Officer and seaman that he assaulted.
